Longboat Beach
Savor luxurious exclusivity…at this vacation Eden
Stretching between the Gulf of Mexico and
serene Sarasota Bay, Longboat Key is bridged at the north from Anna Maria Island and at the southern tip at Lido Key.
Most beaches are privately held for residents and visitors staying at a beachfront condominium or resort.
There are, however, several Beach Access
points with “free limited” parking at Longview Drive, Westfield Street, Mayfield Street and Neptune Avenue. As a result,
this key is not very crowded and a good spot for shelling. Sand dollars are plentiful on nearby sandbars at low tide.
Other public beach locations on Gulf of
Mexico Dr.:
2800 block – 3200 block – 3355 block – 3495 block – 4000 block – 4795 block
Gulfside Dr. (Park on General Harris St.) & Broadway Ave.
The vacation rentals on Longboat Key are
numerous. From luxury high-rise condominiums, tennis & golf resorts, rental vacation condos & villas to apartment
efficiencies and single-family homes; most with views of the beach or Sarasota Bay. This island paradise has no
billboards, neon signs or shopping malls. Longboat’s shops and Zagat Rated restaurants are tastefully hidden beyond
manicured tropical foliage. Recommended Accommodations
If staying on the island, leave the car
behind and hop a Trolley running north and South on Gulf Drive to more beach and shopping districts with stops at Mote
Marine Lab, St. Armands Circle and downtown Sarasota. Daily service runs from 6am to 11pm every 30 minutes.
