Beer Can Island Beach
Savor luxurious exclusivity…at this vacation Eden
Created by tidal currents, Beer Can Island is
often referred to as a “hooked spit”. This curvaceous white powdered sandbar affords boaters the ability to pull up on
a perfectly stunning beach for fishing, sunbathing and much partying. Due to beach erosion and a tangled forest of
fallen Australian pines, the only means of getting there is by boat or walking from Whitney Beach at low tide. If
walking, just remember... to depart before sea waters rush in on the returning high tide. Boaters can access this
peninsula at Longboat Pass.
Looking for a place to stay?
The vacation rentals on Longboat Key are
numerous. From luxury high-rise condominiums, tennis & golf resorts, rental vacation condos & villas to apartment
efficiencies and single-family homes; most with views of the beach or Sarasota Bay. This island paradise has no
billboards, neon signs or shopping malls. Longboat’s shops and Zagat Rated restaurants are tastefully hidden beyond
manicured tropical foliage. Recommended Accommodations
If staying on the island, leave the car
behind and hop a Trolley running north and South on Gulf Drive to more beach and shopping districts with stops at Mote
Marine Lab, St. Armands Circle and downtown Sarasota. Daily service runs from 6am to 11pm every 30 minutes.
